Character development.
To play our wife we have casted Ophelia Chidgey, a school friend of mine and Lara's. We asked her to play our character as physically she fits our profile. She has long brunette hair, we wanted our character to have long hair so we are able to mess it up properly and style it in any way we please She is 18 years old however we are able to dress her up/down to make her look a lot older than she is. She is petite, 5ft2 skinny and pretty. She is well spoken and takes care of herself this is key to our character as she is desirable which makes our storyline more believable.
To play our husband we have cased Henry Burgoyne-Probyne a friend of Lara's He is older which works perfectly, we want there to be a noticeable age gap between the husband and wife to portray a 'trophy wife' persona! but also because of their age gap it could show why he wants to keep her all to himself as he may feel that he couldn't get anyone so beautiful. He is 6ft.. and in good shape giving him a physical advantage over Ophelia. Henry is a good looking man and is capable of facial hair ( which if we used somebody our own age would be hard to find) so when filming the scene where he's the abuser we will ask him to keep his stubble and then we'll film the wedding scene afterwards and ask him to shave.
In our piece we have a third actor however as you do not see them at all, I don't think we have to do a character profile! However, a voice profile we can do!!!
Voice profile: we want the voice to be a female voice, well spoken, young adult- middle age. We want her to have compassion in her voice but also sound concerned.
Sound: Music
Music!
For the wedding scene, when the female character walks down the isle to let the viewers know that its defiantly a wedding we will play Wagner's bridal chorus, it is the typical song that is played when the bride walks down the isle so seems like the best song to have playing. it will be played at fist very loudly but will fade out as she reaches the end of the isle and turns to face her partner.
Link to it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFTnFErJEu4
we won't be playing any other songs through out our piece.
Storyboard missions!
This is our storyboard.
eek...we're so close now! its exciting, we're all set to get the ball rolling!
My drawing skills aren't the best but i think you can understand what is going on in each frame and what sort of shot its going to be.Script
SCRIPT - final draft
even though this is our final draft when it comes to filming we may decide that other lines may work better, if this does happen then i'll add an updated version at that later date.
scene 1
(music playing)
Elizabeth walking down the isle
Brad: (Mouthing) i love you
(music fades they face each other)
scene 2
Elizabeth: ( gasp )
Brad: wake up you worthless bitch, I'm hungry
(phone rings)
Brad: don't you dare get that, you know what she'll say (1) I'm the only one who will love you, remember that.
( brad answers phone)
Brad: hello Anglia, how are you (2) yes I'm well we're both well (2) sorry anglia just letting Elizabeth have a sleep she's so tired from work (sarcastic tone) (2) ill get her to call you when she wakes up
(Brad walks over to Elizabeth)
Brad: I'm off to work now (1) don't be making any calls behind my back i will find out if you do (2) (kisses her cheek) i love you my Elizabeth
( Brad leaves, slamming the front door)
( Elizabeth falls to the fall and starts to well up as theres a gentle knock on the door)
Person 1: Elizabeth (2) i know you're in there (1) let me help you (2) i know what he's like (1) please (2) let me help
( knocking on the door gets louder and harsher)
Elizabeth: NO
When writing our script we wanted to keep the wife's character silent, we think this could show how submissive and obedient she is, that she's become almost an inanimate object in her own life. We have him dominating the film as he's the dominant one in the relationship and the powerful one, so we gave him the most lines but also giving her only one could also symbolise how he 'owns' her, controls everything she does, it could show that she doesn't talk as she's not been given permission.

Costume,Make-up,Props ideas!!
COSTUME MAKE UP AND PROPS!!
Costumes:We decided that we defiantly wanted the husband to be wearing a wife beater, we are going to make it look stained with beer and food smudges. we want him to look this as his character doesn't care about his appearance, he's in a low paying job and is slob like. We will show the contrast to this in the wedding he'll be wearing a nice suit as he's the groom, he'll look clean shaven his hair brushed and slicked whereas when he's the abuser he'll have messy stubble and messy hair. He won't be wearing any make-up he'll be looking natural however we may add some make up around his eyes to make him look tired by adding some black eyeliner and smudging it. The make-up on the wife will take awhile we're going to have to make her look extremely tired, huge bags under her eyes with bruises or cuts on her body/face. i have approached a girl i know who does a make-up course if she may be able to help us, if not we'll learn how to do it! We want to put her in males clothing, we did this as its another way to show how he 'owns her' not even allowed her own clothes, we will go with a males white top, for her it'll be a dress but a short one - we have chosen to have her in a white top as white symbolises purity and in this she is a victim who hasn't done anything wrong. In our film we'll have a telephone as a prop, we want a landline phone as our wife character wouldn't be allowed her own mobile as he doesn't have that level of trust in her! but we want one that can clearly show caller ID we will be using my home phone to do this! We also need two rings for the wedding scene, they will be the harder things to get as wedding rings are a little out of our price range however I think we will be able to sort it out.

analysis of No on would tell (1992)
No one would tell (1992)
No one would tell is an American teen drama based upon a true story where Jamie Fuller murders his girlfriend Amy Carneval in Beverly, Massachusetts. The film follows the couple from the start of the relationship to the end and shows the transformation of the relationship and how/why the abuse starts.
When I think of domestic abuse I never think of a teen relationship, I think of young married couples or middle aged. This film is about a teen relationship which was interesting to watch as it opened our eyes to a new possible way to film ours. it also gave me some ideas of how to film ours, to do with the lighting, camera work and the sound. The lighting always seemed to get darker the abuse was happening there was mid or close ups of when it was happening and the there was always a lead up of eary or sinister music playing but stopped just before he hit her.
Character Profiles:
My mind map for my character Profiles:
https://www.examtime.com/en-GB/p/1799814
Why have we chosen these characters?
We decided that the male character was going to be the abuser as its the stereotypical role in the relationship, you mainly will always think its the man! we decided to show the development of their relationship through their appearances also so showing them when they're happy they are also well groomed and wealthy whereas as the abuse starts they begin to deteriorate with their appearances and personalities too.

Exploring Themes
Drama
Typically dramas have elements of real life events but slightly or overly exaggerated. We have decided on domestic abuse as our topic, we are particularly interested in how these sort of relationships start off and develops into a circle if violence and confusion. We are aweare that this topic is delicate so we will approach it with sensitivity, we really want to help raise a weariness for this topic as it is something that can happen in any relationship, old or young love.

Pitch!
PITCH
MY PITCH
A married couple where the husband is a domestic abuser but times weren't always this way. Starts off with showing happy memories of them, their wedding or a romantic meal showing them at the height of their happiness. Moves on to show them at their current stage where he doesn't love her anymore but needs her, she wants to leave him, all she wants is to be loved and to be happy. She has had enough so makes a bold move to put an end to the suffering.
LARA'S PITCH
The opening will start off with a couple in their happiest state together, maybe on there wedding day, then it will move on to the husband abusing and controlling his wife, still loving her but treating her beyond awful. Then we see the phone call happen, between the police and the wife, in front of the husband but hidden in a sneaky way.
From looking at both of our pitches luckily we have the same sort of idea in mind for our film we decided to write a final pitch together:
FINAL/OUR PITCH
The opening will start off with a married couple in their happiest state together possibly a wedding scene showing that the couple had happy days together. The husband has become a domestic abuser, he still loves her; needs her but acts out as he's scared of losing her. She wants to leave him but emotionally and physically can't. She then reaches her breaking point where she cant deal with anymore and makes a bold move to put an end to the suffering.
In our pitch we didn't want to give too much away about what happens in our film so ended it with a line of suspense.

Production Company Logo research.

For our final piece we have to make a production company logo so to get an idea of what we could do for ours we did some research into already existing logos. I chose a few to talk about.
-New School media productions is a multi-platform and film production company. I liked the look of their logo as its dark and mysterious it looks like it’s been drawn by a young child giving it a spooky element.-Bad Robot productions is an American film and television production company owned by J. J. Abrams. The name of the company already insinuates that the films they’ve produced are going to be dark and then looking at the logo too you get this impression. Like the new school media productions it looks like it’s been drawn by hand. I do really like this look I feel like it gives it a personal touch.-Walt Disney Pictures is an American film production company and division of The Walt Disney Studios, owned by The Walt Disney Company. I like this logo as its different from the others its colourful and ‘happy’ I like the way it’s used different shades of blue however I do prefer the other two logos.-NBC is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network. I like the simplicity of the logo and it doesn’t give any information away about the kind of things it deals with as a company. Leaving it open to be have a variety of clients.
We have chosen a topic that is powerful and controversial and we would really like to portray that in our logo! show the distraught views of the abuser and the broken, confused view of the victim. I thought id type the above words in on google and see what appeared and if anything stood out to me!

These were the images that stood out to me the most! i think the emotion in the girls eyes ( left picture) portray the distress and the cracks on her show the broken-ness of her body from the beatings or the emotional abuse! the smashed up heart i just thought was brilliant, the way there is a flesh looking spot in the middle makes me think its where the damage was done 'in the centre of the heart' that the wound went deep! the man on the right just looks really confused and upset portraying the emotions of the victim! From looking on google and other production logos we'll be able to make a decision on what we want ours to look like and begin to make some rough designs.

Time line of credits
CREDITS - boom!!!
We were set as a class to look through the opening credits of a film and plot them on a timeline of when the different names come up! - this was an interesting exercise as it showed us when was appropriate to drop our credits in and in what order! I looked at the shawshank redemption ( brilliant film!)
The credits:
0.32 Castle Rock Entertainment
0.39 Tim Robbins
0.45 Morgan Freeman
0.51 The Shawshank Redemption
1.15 Willam Sadler
1.28 Clancy Brown
( other cast members till 3.42)
3.43 Casting by Deborah Aquilla c.s.a
3.52 Music by Thomas Newman
4.05 Costume designer Elizabeth Mcbride
4.19 Production designer Terence Marsh
4.51 Edited by Richard Francis-Bruce
5.13 Director of photography Regar Deakins b.s.c
5.24 Executive Producer Liz Gloterzer and David Lester
5.40 Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King
6.04 Screenplay frank Daraont
6.28 Produced by Niki Marvin
6.45 Directed by Frank Darabont
From looking at these credits we know that we'll have to put our actors names first, putting the main characters at the start!i thought it was unusual ( from watching other films) that the title wasn't before all the credits that it came after the two main characters names - i think that we'll put the titles before or after all of the credits but defiantly not in the middle of the credits!
Questionnaire!!
Questionnaire
We decided to use surveymonkey which is an online survey maker!! we did this so that we could post our questionnaire onto Facebook and gather our results in a different sort of way to the norm! We knew we needed at least twenty people to answer it so it would be a fair representation so we left it up there for a few days so the results could tot up - and they did! we have 31 people answer our questionnaire in the end and our results were conclusive - DRAMA IS THE ONE TO GO WITH!
Analysis of our questionnaire results!!

Storyline? - what to chose!
STORYLINES?
When we were thinking up storylines we did it independently so we could have a wider range of ideas! above are the ideas that i came up with, some of them were inspired by as media projects i'd seen on youtube, films i'd seen,Facebook articles and some from the news! In the image bellow is Lara's mind map of ideas!
When looking at both mind maps we saw a few were similar and decided on doing our piece on domestic violence. we thought it would be an interesting one to film as it isn't a stereotypical storyline for this genre but we have thought up of many ways that we could easily make it work for us! - EXCITING!!!!! We know that this is a tabooed subject matter so we are going to try and be as sensitive as we can when filming.
Synopsis of storyline:
Woman in a domestically abusive marriage makes a disguised phone call to 999
LETS GET THE BALL ROLLING - Picking our genre!
GENRES!
In the process of planning our final piece we were uncertain of what genre we wanted to do so we decided to map out all our possibilities and look at them logically. We decided to go with the sub-genre of horror/drama we did this as looking at films within the other genres there were certain typical codes and conventions that we would of massively struggled to do.
problems we would have:
1. Comedy - its proven to be very hard to actually make something funny, people have different senses of humour and if it didn't appeal to our demographic we would have to start from scratch!
2. Science Fiction - there is a massive budget for science fiction films as special effects is such a large part of it ( because monsters aren't real...) and we just don't have that sort of money to get it all together or the facilities or even the editing equipment.
3. Romance - as this is only an AS project our actors won't be professionals, they'd be amateur actors most likely just friends! and we didn't think that they would take their roles seriously enough to actually convince the audience that they were 'in love' with another character so we would of ended up having to waste a lot of time trying over and over to get their acting on point!
4. Social realism - this genre was a possibility as it would of been within our budget and as its based upon real lives and is filmed almost in a documentary kind of style we would of had the facilities BUT we didn't feel like it would be as exciting as a horror drama film opening.

Genre work- Other peoples presentations
In addition to my partner and i doing presentations the rest of the class had to as well this gave us a greater insight to the other genres besides romance and helped us decided on what genre we wanted to pick for our final piece. I am only going to show you one person's work as it is the one which is relevant to our final piece.
Mollie Green:
Mollie's presentation was on drama. This presentation inspired Lara and I it gave great detail into the sub genres and this gave us ideas of what we could do for our final project, we saw this genre as one that we could film and make effectively within our budget and guidelines. We especially liked the sub genre of horror drama.
Dan Offer:
Dan's presentation was on Horror. we were inspired by this swell as we thought it would be interesting to combine with the genre of drama (horror drama being the sub genre.) Lara and i really liked how he went into such depth about the stereotypes and gave a detailed definition - this is what made us want to incorporate this into our final piece.

My presentation on the genre of Romance
Romance Genre:
We (Lara and I) were set the homework to look at a genre of our choice and make a presentation on it! We had to watch two films from this genre and analyse it! (what a shame ay) we chose to watch romance films and so we watched the fault of in starts and the last song, we chose these films as even though they're apart of the same genre they are two very different films as the last song is a typical teen romance whereas the fault in our starts is a teen romance but doesn't have the typical ending.

Preliminary task evaluation.
Evaluation:
When filming you have things that went well but you'll also have things which don't go as smoothly!
Things that went well:
- we found the perfect location (bedroom) with the right colours (red), which we were able to get the perfect angles in.
- our filming went fairly smoothly, had to take each shot a few times because of laughter but that's only because they weren't professionals so we allowed it.
- We knew how to edit so when it came to piecing our work together it was easy and done quickly.
- the lighting in the bedroom was also perfect, it was lucky there was a light above their heads so we were able to spotlight them in the scene and turn the other lights off to give the impression it was night time.
- IT WAS FUN!
- it fits into our target audience's appeal
Things that didn't go so smoothly:
- our original actor for the husband arrived and when we briefed him of what he would be doing and that it would be going on our blogs he backed out. At this point we were really stuck as we knew we wouldn't be able to do it another night so we called another friend and over the phone briefed him of what he would be doing so we knew that we wouldn't get put into the same situation again. When he arrived he was a great actor - woo
- our final shot didn't come out as we wanted it to, because of where the door was we had to switch the cameras angle to fit the wife walking through the door. When we came to edit it we saw that the shot from before didn't match with it and our actress had gone how so we had to rotate the clip and make do. The shot works but it just isn't perfect which is a shame.

Planning for the preliminary task!
Planning:
Before we started to even consider filming we needed to think about what we wanted to do for our shoot. Lara and i thought up a few ideas which we thought would be able to show off the different necessities of the preliminary task and finally decided on the storyline of an affair. We picked this one as we thought it would be the most exciting to watch as its a controversial topic within society, but also thought it would be a fun one to film. After we'd chosen our topic we had to consider what each character would wear and their make-up if any; where we would have them located and who we wanted to play the characters roles.
Location:
we had three main ideas, one: in bed two: in a living room three: having breakfast 'the morning after' we decided on our first idea, we did this as we thought as it is only a short film it would be most apparent to the viewer what the nature of the film was.
Clothing and make up:
-Wife: we really want her to look as innocent and as pure as possible so we want her in all white as it has the connotation of purity and we decided that she won't have any make-up on to also give the innocent persona swell as having her hair tied up in a messy bun.
-Mistress: As she's also in the bed we thought we'd try and make her look topless too but as she is only an actress we will have her wearing an off the shoulder top to keep her decent, for her make-up we want her to look fake, so with lots of foundation and bright red lipstick with heavy dark eye make-up to show the contrast with the wife's look.
Who:
-Husband: we want someone with dark hair, who is physically fit and has a 'cheeky' looking face to make him look like a stereotypical 'player'
-Wife: we want a woman who's got blond hair as when you see a woman with blond hair and wearing white it goes under the connotation of innocence and purity again
-Mistress: dark long hair with a prominent facial feature for example, big lips or a mole. As you can associate dark hair with danger.
Filming:
Editing:
Ive used iMovie before as I've made family films with my dad so i didn't really have any trouble with the editing, it all went together fairly smoothy except the last frame. It was handy that we'd filmed all of the dialogue from each angle so we just had to cut each frame we needed together without the actor being in a slightly different place or the camera angle being slightly off.
Final cut:
Our final cut came out almost perfect, i think we got our camera angles spot on except in the last frame where the wife comes through the door, the camera was round the wrong way so when we came to edit it all together it didn't fit completely right, but luckily it still shows the match on match action.

My First Post!
My First Post
Hey!!
I'm not really sure what to write on this so i'm just going to write about myself as I know how to do that.
My names Millie, I'm 17years old and my birthday is on the 20th December, I have a twin sister but we don't look the same and most people don't even make the connection that we're related! Besides Tasha ( the twin) I have a younger brother who is in year8 now so he's coming up for 13, his name is Rhett, odd name i know but its the name of mum's favourite character from her favourite film, Gone with the Wind. My mum's name is Amber and my dad's is Terence, we live in Avebury in a beautiful house, however, we lived in London for 14years in Queens Park...not near the football stadium as intact its not even in Queens Park. when i was in year 6 we had a house fire so had to move into the Mariot hotel for half a year whilst our house was rebuilt and then as soon as it was we sold it and moved to Marlborough then to Manton and then finally settled in avebury. We have a dog called Martey and a cat called Meg as well as a lizard called Sara.
Im a busy lady with two part-time jobs, one in a coffee shop in marlborough and the other in the tourist shop in avebury, i am also apart of two youth councils and I'm marlborough's representative for youth and education on a shadow committee. I used to volunteer with disabled teenagers once a week but wiltshire council closed the youth centre so i can no longer continue with that :( I did athletics for many years and have started up again now i also enjoy my bed. Just being in my bed is the best thing in the world!
can't think of anything else worth mentioning
